Stone Bridge Investments Purchases 3 Horses and Sells 1 Horse During October and November

November 15, 2023

Stone Bridge Investments’ managers have been busy trading our stable of assets this fall. In addition to the horses sold at Keeneland in September, we sold our Flatter Me Owen 23 (Vekoma) filly for $45,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Yearling sale in October.

Additions to our portfolio include two new investment horses, both purchased at the Keeneland Breeding Stock sale held in early November. First, SBI bought a beautiful weanling colt out of Roughing, by Uncle Mo for $190,000. Uncle Mo won $1.6 million in a good racing career and he is the sire of Nyquist, a Kentucky Derby winner and by far his most successful offspring. Currently, Uncle Mo ranks as #4 on the general sires list for 2023, up from #6 last year. The following day, the Syndicate acquired another weanling colt, out of Ria Munk by Not This Time. Not This Time is well known to SBI, as we purchased Mumbai in 2022 and she delivered a Not This Time foal in February 2023 which we currently own. Interestingly, our two colts from the same sire, but different mares, were born 17 days apart.

Finally, we purchased a new mare to add to our stable of breeding assets. Xtrema (by Exxagerator) is a 5-year old former racehorse that had a very respectable career, winning $171,000 over three years, with 5 firsts in 21 starts. Exaggerator, her sire, was a stellar racehorse in his prime, winning the 2016 Preakness Stakes and finishing 2nd in that year’s Kentucky Derby. Overall, he won $3.6 million in a two-year career and was the 3rd ranked racehorse by earnings in 2016. We paid $20,000 for Xtrema and our intention is to pair her with Arabian Lion in early 2024.
